Students continued to work on their Planet Project. After individually completing the worksheet and the powerpoint presentation, students need to create a planet model. It will be part of a solar system mobile that we’ll hang from the ceilings around the Middle School.

HW: Return signed progress report to school tomorrow.

Well done Alex. A very creative and colorful model of the planet Uranus. Made from yarn, aluminum foil and tooth picks

After seeing Nick and Alex’s excellent travelogue on Italy, most students started their European Nation’s History project. Project details are below.

Project details:

You will create a slideshow of images which corresponds to your nation’s history.  There will not be any talking/reading.  You must put in some type of background music that relates to what is showing on the screen.  Your slideshow must represent the history of your nation. Project is due and should be ready to present on Friday 11th May 2012. Check out Mason and Matthew’s project

After discussing the details of the planet project listed below, students began their research.

Project details

1) Due Friday 11th May 2012, complete the Planet Data Collection worksheet for your planet

2) Due Friday 11th May 2012, produce a presentation of your planet by using the Planet powerpoint template. The last 3 slides give additional guidelines

3) Due Tuesday 15th May 2012, produce a model of your planet. If everyone does it, will be able to create a solar system mobile that we can hang from the ceiling around the Middle School. The model is not going to be too scale. I am hoping it will look something like the one below.

There are loads of places to find information around the Planets. However, a few good ones that I found were:

1) National Geographics Solar System

2) Planetary Orbit

3) Astronomy
