About 6th Grade Geography
Welcome to Middle School and the sixth grade, a time of excitement, growing independence, and new challenges! The sixth grade geography class encourages students to discover the world around them, encountering the physical environment (climate, weather, vegetation) while learning about the earth’s human geography (population, migration, economic and political system). During the course, students will ‘travel’ around the 7 continents of the world starting with North America and ending in Europe. Material used in class will whenever possible be posted on the blog.
Aspects of the course can be referred to using the links below:
All students are capable of high achievement and learn best when actively involved. I will provide many opportunities for students to work in group settings as well as individually. Cooperative and self-directed learning will be encouraged and supported. But most importantly, I will try and develop a happy dynamic learning environment, where the students develop a real interest in geography and the world around them.
And a final note. There are also plenty of opportunities that students can obtain extra assistance, perhaps the easiest being during study time during school. I will generally be available after school until 4pm Monday to Thursday but there will be a specific ‘Geography’ afternoon on Wednesday. Extra help sessions will also be made available by appointment. Basically, if you require extra help, just come and ask!
