Chers élèves de huitième classe, l’examen vient, mais ne vous en faites pas. Voici une guide pour vous aider:
Study Guide:
Vocabulaire: Review the definitions of all the vocab lists from chapters 8,9 and 10. Make sure you know them English to French and French to English. Don’t forget to know the gender of each noun and be able to conjugate each verb.
Structure: Look at each grammar point. There are 2-4 in each chapter. Make sure you can do the following with each and every one. Explain in English what the rule is, and what it means. Be able to explain how it works, (ex: the passe compose is made up of two parts; the past participle and the present tense of the verb ‘avoir’.) Then be sure you can recognize it in a sentence, and make up a few examples of this on your own.
Culture: Read each and every passage, slowly and carefully, translating aloud as you go. Answer the comprehension questions at the end. Retell in your own words what the main points of the passage were.
If you can do each of these things for each chapter we have studied, you will be in excellent shape for the semester final. Remember that it is REVIEW. You have already studied this, so it should go much more smoothly which each subsequent review.
The following is question I will be asking during the oral exam. Try to answer as best you can. You will draw two cards, each with one sport on it, and then you can choose your favorite one. We will talk about your question for a minute or two and that will be it! I will show you the rubric for grading in class.

Starting tomorrow, we will have a look at the school system in France, and then compare it to the system in your own francophone country. We will try to answer some questions about the differences and similarities between the two (your country and France), and try to give our fellow classmates a little summary of what we find out.

A guide for your chapter outline:
Titre: ex: reprise- R.1
Vocabulaire: Donnez tous les mots et aussi toutes les expressions donnés dans le chapitre. Incluez le genre des noms et dîtes si les verbes sont réguliers ou irréguliers.
Structure: Donnez le nom de chaque point de structure: par exemple; »Les verbes devoir, pouvoir, vouloir » These three verbs are irregular. They all take avoir in the passé composé. Devoir means « to have to », or « to owe » etc. Conjugate the verbs if it is the first time it has been presented.
Culture: Donnez un court résumé (bullet points) des différents points dans l’article.
Quelques questions d’examen: ex: Tu aimes cuisiner? Quel repas est ton favori? Pourquoi?
