On Tuesday, some classes taught chapter 11 and some taught chapter 12.

Homework: None! Enjoy Fine Arts Night!

Today we finished up the recitations and went back to our discussions about the end of the novel. Some classes had student teachers begin teaching chapter 11, and some classes had student teachers begin teaching chapter 12.

Homework: For those classes who have not yet discussed chapter 11, look it over. For those clases who have not yet discussed chapter 12, look that over.

On Thursday of last week, we had our recitation contest in class to see who would perform on Core Day!

Homework: Please finish Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry. Please also finish chapter 4 of your autobiographies in order to turn them in on Monday.

On Wednesday of last week, we had students teach chapter 10 of Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry.

Homework: Practice poems for recitation contest on Thursday.

On Tuesday of last week, we had students teaching chapter 9 of Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry.

Homework: Please read the first half of chapter 12.

Yesterday, Mrs. Hincker was back, and we picked up where we left off on Friday. This day was dedicated to beginning chapter 4 of our autobiographies, and groups who needed to prepare their lessons for class were allowed to work together in the hall.

Homework: Please read chapter 11 of Roll of Thunder.

Mrs. Hincker was out again, so one more day was dedicated to catch up.

Homework: Finish chapter 10.

On Thursday of last week, Mrs. Hincker was out sick, so the students were allowed to work on chapter 3 of their autobiographies or catch up with their reading in Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry with the substitute.

Homework: Please read the first half of chapter 10 of Roll of Thunder.

After a very eventful and exciting Green and Gold day yesterday, it was nice to ease back into classes today with a rather fun assignment. Students were asked to find a poem by Robert Frost or Shel Silverstein that they loved and begin memorizing it for class next week. Students may choose any poem of any length; however, there are bonus points available for poems longer than 10 lines.

Students were also asked to submit work to The Core for publication. Any student whose work is submitted will earn an extra point on their average.

Homework: Please read the first half of chapter 10.
Please find a poem by Robert Frost or Shel Silverstein that you would be able and willing to memorize by next Wednesday.
Chapter 3 of your autobiographies is due tomorrow; however, you are welcome to turn it in on Friday or Monday if you need the extra time (no penalty).

Today, we are discussing chapter 8 of Roll of Thunder and spending some time on our autobiographies.

Homework: Please finish reading chapter 9.
