Feb 22 We performed the first edit on our comedy pieces. I asked students to use more metaphoric language, different sentence structure, and use a thesaurus to change six of their words into more powerful ones.

Feb 23 We read several of comedy writing pieces and looked for what worked and what didn’t. will read their finished pieces to parents tonight. Then we began To Kill a Mockingbird and I gave them some historical perspective on the novel.

Feb 24 We worked on some grammar review and then returned to the novel. I am reemphasizing the “notated reading” strategy we worked on in the first semester. Kids will read the 3 chapters over the weekend.
