OUTWARD BOUND

This year’s Outward Bound trip will begin on January 29th (students will leave from SCDS at 9:00 pm, Sunday night) and return on February 3rd (Friday night).  This trip into the Ten Thousand Islands of the Everglades National Park is one that encourages growth in leadership, compassion, service, social and environmental Responsibility, and Character Development.

Travel Plans:

Sunday, January 29:

Our two buses will depart at 9:00 pm in front of Jelks Auditorium.
*Students may be dropped off at 8:30 pm, but no later than 8:45 pm.
**Bus service provided by Fabulous Bus Co.

The bus trip will take approximately 10 hours.  There will be stops along the way for breakfast (to the Everglades) and lunch and dinner (on the way home).  Students need to bring money for these stops. $25.00 should be sufficient.

Friday, February 3:

The buses will arrive at SCDS between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00p.m. Friday night.  Your child will call you from the bus when we know a more exact arrival time.  The Stillwood gate will be open.

Medications                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        If your child has medications that need to be taken on the trip, make sure they are in a properly labeled bottle, with child’s name and dosage.  Pack these medications in a zip-lock bag with your child’s name clearly marked on the front.  Outward Bound Instructors will help administer your child’s medication.

Travel/Miscellaneous Tips

-No food or drink is allowed on the trip, but frequent stops will be made to and from the Everglades.
-Ipods and other electronic devices are allowed (for bus rides only); they must be played at low levels.
-Clothes and other items not used on the actual course will be safely stored at OB Basecamp.
-Some students have found pillows useful for sleeping on the bus rides.
