So I just returned from the grocery store (preparing for our Hunger Awareness Challenge). I bought a loaf of bread, a half gallon of oj, 2 cucumbers, salami, cream cheese, green olives, peanuts, and black olives, and a big box of cereal. My total was $23.32…so I put back the black olives.
We can do this …but of course I was amazed how little I was able to purchase for $22.40 — and I was so thoughful about trying to buy protein, vegetables, and things that I could easily pull out for a snack if I got hungry.
Let me know how your grocery shopping and first day goes!!! We start tomorrow!

If you are missing assignments from April 19-April 30 – come see me. For some reason we were SOOOOOO busy with movies, that I didn’t manage to put the assignments on the blog. I am happy to load them to the blog – but decided you probably wouldn’t look at them anyway. I decided I could be more efficient by working on your upcoming test (or even your soon to be distributed EXAM REVIEW PACKET!)
Here’s another photo from DC for inspiration for the week –

Mini mester was an awesome time!!! Law and Order with Judge Freesemann totally rocks! We went to the Jail, visited the Forensic Unit, and handled night vision goggles at the Combat Readiness Training Center! I spent the last day of mini mester in Washington, DC. Stay tuned for more photos.

So I decided I would try to hone my skills as a blogger. I figured, it is a new quarter and I push my students to reinvent themselves, I suppose I should try my own medicine. Actually, I got inspired by watching Julie an Julia. This movie is the story of a woman who cooks all of Julia Child’s recipes and blogs about it. I don’t think I can “cook up” any good math recipes…but you never know.
Today is the first day of the fourth quarter. Where in the world has the year gone? Today was also “Hincker’s birthday’ – and I promised his advisees I would blog about it. SO here’s a little evidence that it really was a birthday!

Before third quarter is too far behind us, I do want to share some pictures of some of the ‘projects’ of the term. Remember we celebrated Valentine’s Day by making 3-D valentines (and yes, some were food!) and of course we worked on Outward Bound Dilations.

And here’s a completed dilation….
