Transitions Counts Restaurants

We heard from the problems that students produced from restaurant menus: How many different meals are possible if you choose a meat, a vegetable, a salad, a dessert, and a drink? Can you have nothing?

Algebra Fractals

We worked on our 3-dimensional fractal made of tetrahedrons which combine to become larger and larger tetrahedrons. Look for a picture tomorrow of the whole thing!

Exponents and Graphing

We are working on exponent rules in Chapter 8 and will practice keeping them all straight. For today we also played Green Globs again to remember how to work with equations of lines.

Counting on Restaurants!

We made great counting problems using restaurant menus and choosing wonderful choices. The Multiplication Counting Principal says we can multiply the number of choices at each step of the way to get the total number of possibilities.

More exponent rules today! Now we have the power rule, the product rule and the quotient rule. Lots of practice with them is a good, good idea.

The beginning of the exponent rules! Chapter 8 is full of problems simplifying expressions with exponents. Be sure every rule makes good sense to you before moving on!

Homework for Tuesday night is to read section 8-2, pp 464-67, #4-20. There will be a review quiz Wednesday. This could cover any material through chapter 7.

Transitions Quiz Practice

The quiz over sections 4,5,7,8 is tomorrow, Wednesday, and to practice in class we made up our own quiz questions to see what is tricky and what is an appropriate question.

Algebra Counting Problems

We are reminding ourselves of the Multiplication Counting Principal and all the fun problems that come with it. It allows us to do probability, too! In class we worked with a partner to complete some counting problems.
